Announcement of the Fourth Biennial Slayage and Whedon Studies Association
Conference on the Whedonverses
Officers of the Whedon Studies Association (WSA), Incorporated, are pleased to announce that the fourth biennial Slayage/WSA Conference on the Whedonverses will be held June 3-6, 2010, at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Flagler College, the cosponsor for the conference, is located in the center of downtown St. Augustine. Serving as local arrangements chairs are Flagler’s new English Department chair, Dr. Tamara Wilson and Dr. Jim Wilson, professor of English and the organizer of the Florida Writers’ Conference. (Write them at jmwilson@flagler.edu.) Conference sessions will be held on campus, and conferees will have the option of staying in a suite-style dorm room for a very low price (less than $30 a night at the current rate) or in a nearby luxury hotel, across the street, or in more modestly priced downtown hotels accessible by the St. Augustine trolley.
Again, the conference is scheduled for June 3-6, 2010, the weekend after Memorial Day. We imagine that some conferees may choose to begin their stay in Florida then, extending their time to a week (both Daytona Beach and Orlando are nearby). The Orlando airport is about two and a half hours away from St. Augustine (the Jacksonville airport is closest to St. Augustine, less than an hour away).
More information, including a formal CFP, will be available as plans develop. Visit Slayage (http://slayageonline.com) for details.
